Costs and documents for importing goods

A quotation can be compared when it covers the same scope of work, the same product information, and the same delivery terms.

Costs & documents

Cost categories to compare

Not every shipment incurs all of the items below. A specific quotation should state what work is included, excluded, and the basis of calculation; this table is not a service price list.

Basis for comparison

What should a clear quotation include?

The information and shipment data version used.

Collection point, delivery point, scope of work, and performing party.

Unit of measure, currency, exchange-rate reconciliation method if applicable, and payment milestone.

Validity period; conditions requiring reconfirmation when goods or schedules change.

List of anticipated and excluded items, and the person authorized to approve additional costs.

Guide to reading and comparing quotations

Documents by transaction arrangement

Enterprise named as the importer

It is necessary to clarify the documents provided by the enterprise, the work outsourced for support, and responsibility for reconciling information. Document names and handover records are confirmed according to the product and actual transaction.

Contract-based import entrustment

The roles of the entrusting and entrusted parties, assigned work, information approver, and reconciliation document set need to be identified. Payment and invoice mechanisms are not assumed to be the same in every case.

Distinguishing from domestic goods purchases

Purchasing goods from a domestic seller after import is a different transaction. It should not be inferred that the complete import document set will be handed over to the domestic buyer. The possibility of providing this arrangement must be discussed separately and is not assumed to be included in the services introduced by TBS.
